I will be in Olympia, Washington, our Capital on Wednesday, January 17, along with 2000+ other Realtors from Washington State participating in our Legislative Day activities. This "Hill Day" tradition gives us the opportunity to visit our State Legislators and discuss bills we would like proposed to further our goal, Homeownership.
This year we are concentrating on the Growth Management Inrastructure Account - measures should be pursued to provide sufficient funding for the needs of infrastructure necessary to accommodate growth. A specific account should be created that provides infrastructure funding for projects necessary to accommodate growth. This account would provide funds for the acquisition, construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation and improvement of road projects needed to increase capacity necessary to accommodate growth.
The GMA Performance Measure - effective planning will help communities plan for growth, ensure economic vitality, provide housing opportunities and relieve traffic congestion.
The GMA Accommodating Growth - clarifies intent of the Growth Management Act to accommodate growth, ensures sufficient buildable land capacity is available for housing and employment growth and provides for no net loss of housing and employment opportunities.
