New Construction Starts At A Four Year High

According to a recent report in the Washington Business Journal new construction starts nationwide reached a four year high in October 2012.  The major gain was in multi-family houses which includes condos and townhouses.

All a buyer in Northern Virginia needs to do is drive around and see how new construction is doing in our area.  This weekend I was out with relocating buyers looking at homes in the Mount Vernon area of Alexandria.  The sales office for Riverwood at Ferry Point was busy and a number of homes are already under construction and lots sold.  The Riverwood at Ferry Point community features homes on 1/2 acre or larger lots righ on the edge of the Dogues Creek with access to the Potomac River.  Base prices start at just over $1 Million and depending on upgrades can go up accordingly. 

New homes offer buyers who have a little bit of time to wait a great option to build the home the way they would like.  Riverwood at Ferry Point is on the higher end of the new home scale but there are developments throughout Northern Virginia covering a wide variety of price points.
