Inexpensive Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas | Thanksgiving 2012

Erika Rogers - St. George Utah Real Estate - Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas for LessThere will be lots of company for many St George Utah homeowners this Thanksgiving! When it comes to decorating your home around the Holiday’s for less, many people will spend hours looking for tips and advice. But, look no further. Here are some decorating ideas you can use for Thanksgiving in your home for years to come. These tips for projects are affordable and are perfect for fall or Turkey day.
  • Thankful Fall Sign – Create your very own “Thankful” or “Grateful” sign using paper, felt and a paint brush. All can be bought from your local craft store at affordable prices.
  • Thanksgiving Wreath – For fall or Thanksgiving, a wreath is perfect to help set the mood. You’ll need a wreath form, 1/3 yard of burlap to cover it and scraps of 3 other colors of burlap, 3 alligator clips, scissors, hot glue, buttons and scraps of fabric. You will be able to create your own wreath for a fourth of the price of buying one in the store.
  • Candle Holders – If you have old furniture taking up space, then this is the project for you. It’s unique and affordable. Use old table legs to make beautiful candle holders. Cut the top of the leg to make it flat and cut the leg into two staggered sizes. Spray paint them in your choice of color and add dollar store candles and berries to the top. Now, just stand back to admire your handy work and creativity.
  • Decorative Bottles – Are you a bottle collector? If so, use vinyl letters to jazz a few bottles and fill them with colorful, beans, candies, marbles, colored stones or whatever you have around the house to make it attractive. You can use the vinyl letter transfers to label the bottles with your favorite words, such as love, joy, happiness etc.
  • Candy Corn Wreath – Supplies you’ll need are cardboard stock, hot glue gun, scissors, scrap burlap material, stapler and a bag of candy corn and a piece of ribbon. You can also use other type of candies such as peppermints for Christmas. Simply cut the wreath shape out and hot glue the candy right on.
  • Holiday Mantel – Gather items from your backyard or local craft store such as acorns, pine cones and branches to arrange around your mantel. It’s all free or low price, and it’s fun to get the family involved in gathering or choosing your items. Use pine cones, acorns, branches that are colorful with leaves or have red berries.
It’s all about decorating on a budget. So, whatever you choose, just choose wisely. And, have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Great ideas Erika! I love the bottle one. And when you pour the paint into clear bottles and swirl it around it gives such a beautiful look AND then with the letters.... SO PRETTY! Love it!

Great ideas! I like the suggestion on decorating bottles and am thinking of using it to spell out "T-H-A-N-K-S-G-I-V-I-N-G".
