Thanksgiving 2012Share Your Gratitude on Thanksgiving 2012

We all know what Thanksgiving 2012 is and why we celebrate this wonderful day, but I want to share with you all why I’m so thankful. I hope that you all will do the same when you get together with your friends and family. For me my family is spread all over the country and world for that matter and so it seems that we never can get together during this wonderful holiday. I have never experienced my entire family being together on Thanksgiving and I guess I have just gotten used to that fact. This year I am very sad that it won’t happen again. It also doesn’t help that my poor husband has to work on Thanksgiving Day and the day after. That’s the way it is at our house every year. Thank you shift work!

But instead of getting down and sad about who is not here with me right now or who won’t be with me tomorrow I am thankful for MANY things.

I am thankful for my husband and my daughter. Our lives didn’t come together in the traditional sense and I wouldn’t change it under any circumstances. They are my life and my rock! I have known my husband since I was 17 and I am so proud of where he has gone in his life and career. He doesn’t know how proud I am of him because I’m sure I don’t say it enough, but I am so tremendously proud of what he has accomplished under our circumstances. We were young when we got together and no one thought it would last, but here we are, 10 years married and known each other for longer than that. Having our daughter when I was 19 and him 22 was not an easy thing either. We together have over come so many obstacles and things are finally looking up and starting to finally get easier. There were many times when we wanted to throw up our hands and just give up, but neither one of us ever did. We hung in there and made sure that we succeeded. We may not be millionaires but we are richer than most people I know for sure. There is a bond that will never be broken and I wanted to share it with all of you this Thanksgiving.

The other shining light in my life is my beautiful daughter. She will probably never know how much I love her and how proud I am of her, but I am. Every time I turn around she amazes me even more. She is basically the polar opposite of me, but in a great way. She is a straight A student and is so smart that I can’t even explain what she knows. She is also very talented with so many things like drawing and sports. This year she decided to try cross country for the first time and ended up being a super star her freshman year. Gig Harbor High school Cross Country team awarded her Freshman of the Year last week and I couldn’t be happier for her. She is going to be my guiding light through the rest of my life for sure. I hope someday she realizes how much she has saved my life in so many ways.

I am of course thankful for my family. Even though we may be so far apart now I know that they are always thinking of me. I know it’s easy to get caught up in life and sometimes we forget to call, but I know they still love me. I love them as well and they are always held dear to my heart.

As we all sit down at our Thanksgiving day meals tomorrow or this weekend lets not forget what we are thankful for. I hope that all of you will share your thankfulness with your friends and family and let them all know how you really feel about them and that they are loved! It should be done all through out the year, but we know how life goes.
