While wandering through Wyckoff --- only 7 square miles and is within 27 miles of mid-town Manahatten. It was first settled in the early 18th Century. The town name, a combination of words derived from the Indian word for high ground "wickoff" or "wickok" which means water. The population is approximately 16,500 residents.
