Feng Shui Tips for Healing from Hurricane Sandy by Laura Cerrano

Hurricane Sandy really did a number on the east coast, especially Long Island.  Many will ask, why me? why did this happen? From a spiritual perspective, teachers will say it had to happen. It had to happen to awaken us to all levels of life we continuously ignore.  We were all effected, those who had the destruction first hand and those who witnessed the destruction.  No one was spared.

Here are some Feng Shui tips on how to move forward and heal:

  1. Reach out to family and friends for support.  I'm sure many of you who where displaced have already done this.  As long as you have shelter, food, a warm place to stay and shower, healing will begin.  This will give you a solid foundation of mental and emotional grounding on how deal with the days of intense moments when rebuilding and planning for the future.
  2. Do not be afraid to release those tears. This was a traumatic event for all.  For many, they have lost a house, a car and the list goes on.  So yes cry for those losses, it's natural but remember you still have the most precious gift of all and that is your life. All other things can be replaced with time.
  3. Notice how when disasters happen, is when we pray more and have some form of belief system we call upon.  Why wait for a destructive moment?  From here on in, allow the practice (what ever faith or believe you choose to follow) to become part of your daily life routine.  This will ground you during the challenges of life.
  4. If you were lucky to have your home kept in tact, if it needs remodeling or even if its been taken by mother nature herself, I recommend that you bless the land.  Blessing the land clears it of the intense negative energy (meaning emotions) that has just taken place.  With an end, means new beginnings and a blessing helps to manifest just that.

Laura,

Before, during and immediately after Hurricane Sandy, all eyes were on the eye of the storm. As days and weeks go by, those who weren't impacted move on but it's the ones who lived through it that are still dealing with the tragedies and fighting insurance companies. They are searching for material possessions and beginning to realize all that they lost. Healing will take  long time. We should never forget the people who lost it all as a result of Hurricane Sandy and we should be there to support them.
