Seller Tips to Help You Get it SOLD

Are you considering selling your home in the local Brighton, Michigan real estate market?

The challenge that Brighton Michigan sellers face in selling their home is making their home seem inviting, cozy and homey while being impersonal enough so that buyers can envision themselves living there.

To make the house more impersonal I highly recommend that sellers:

• Put away personal photos. Buyers see these and spend too much time looking the pictures and not at the house itself.
• Remove anything that would take more than a second to read such as a poem hanging on a wall (see exception to this rule below).
• Clear the front of the fridge of all papers, photos, appointment cards, quotes, magnets etc.

To make the home more cozy and inviting during showings, sellers should:

• Write a heartfelt letter describing why the home is special to them.
• Turn on the lights.
• Open the curtains and blinds during the day.
• Play soft music.
• Clean, clean, clean.
• De-clutter: No dishes, no clothes out, no paperwork / bills.
• Set the kitchen and/or dining room table with place settings and silverware as if you were having guests over.

If sellers have the resources, I recommend:

• Fluffy white new towels in the bathrooms.
• Fresh coat of paint everywhere in neutral colors in white or light beige.
• New bedding in all of the bedrooms.
• Fresh plants and/or flowers inside the house.
• Replacing door knobs and cabinet handles if necessary.
