Earning the Red Badge - Breaking the 500K Club in Active Rain
Twenty three months ago when I first joined Active Rain, I had no idea what all those little buttons under everyone’s name meant. I knew that I only had one of them, and it was the outside blog button. I do remember asking one of my early mentors, Barbara Todaro, what were all those buttons under everyone’s photo all about. Barbara referred to them as our “Boy Scout badges”. Then, I noticed that they all had different colors if a member had a certain amount of points.
I discovered early on the benefits of earning more points, and set out to earn one of those little “Red Boy Scout Badges”. Well, Today it’s time to Celebrate once again, since I have crossed the 500K point barrier, and earned by way into the Red Badge club. This badge will earned all Active Rain members a Free Rainmaker Account for life. Now, that’s something worth the effort, and if you are persistent, you will earn one too.
It all started by setting goals for myself, and staying focused to accomplished each one of them. As I look back at the my very first goal, it was to reach page one of San Antonio, Texas. At the time, you only needed 25,000 points to be in the top 50 for the city, and that was good enough for page one. Then, there was getting to 50,000 points, and beyond. Next, I wanted to be in the top 10, and I accomplished that last year. I knew it was going to take a lot of blogging to reach No. 1 in San Antonio, TX, but I was able to accomplish that goal just a few days ago. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that I would be in the top 20 in the whole state of Texas, but I am presently at No. 19, and No. 8 for the Most Subscribed in Texas.
It takes time to become a better blogger, and build your business from your online presence. Blogging just happens to be one method for generating leads, and I am glad that I found Active Rain last year, and got serious about my blogging. The education that you can receive here in the Rain cannot be compared to anything I have ever experienced. You can learn from so many different professionals, who participate and share their knowledge in their fields of expertise on a daily basis. Plus, I have found the networking with other members to be more than I could have ever imagined or hoped for.
I wish to encourage all new members, and all those seeking to earn the Red Badge in Active Rain, to keep on blogging, and work on getting better every step of the way. You too will earn your Free Rainmaker Account, and improve your business along the journey.
