Yuletide Bazaar at Casa Grande New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum

If you missed the Yuletide Bazaar at Casa Grande in New Almaden Park, San Jose, on Sat., Dec. 1, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., you'll just have to wait til next year to examine and purchase local crafts and holiday treats on display.
However it's not to late to visit Casa Grande New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum.
While admission and tours are free, the parking fee is $6.
To add to the festive atmosphere at Christmas and New Year's, Casa Grande will be decorated and staffed by costumed docents.
The newly renovated Casa Grande and New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum offers visitors an opportunity to step back in time and explore exhibits that illustrate the history of mining cinnabar, the ore of mercury. Discover how cinnabar and mercury were used and how this site contributed to the success of the California Gold Rush.
Casa Grande is located within Santa Clara County’s only National Historic Landmark District, and preserves the history of California’s first and richest mine, as well as a glimpse of life in this historic community over 150 years ago.
The museum is open to the public Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays year-round. Group tours are available daily by reservation, and the museum is advertised as wheelchair accessible. Admission and tours are free, however there is a $6 charge for parking. For more info, call (408) 323-1107.
