Yelp Can Help Boast Good Service and Reputation

The old adage that no news is good news doesn’t apply to online reviews. A real estate agent who has a site with no reviews is worse than one with 20 reviews, even if a couple are negative. That’s because no reviews might be perceived as inactivity or indifference.

Asking a client for a review can be awkward, but it’s becoming more common and seen as a good way to circulate positive testimonials. If you’re uncomfortable asking someone for a review, include it in your wrap-up session via a questionnaire or inform your client that you’ll be sending one in the mail. Just explain that you’d really like to get some feedback on how you did and if their comments can be used on a site such as Yelp.

Jamie - that is a great way to get your name out there. There are so many sites that can do that as well. Google is one I like.

Thanks for the reminder it was suggested that I jump on that years ago, and I never embraced it or found the time.

I will be rethinking that for 2013 business plan

Mike, Dan, Sally, David and Jeff, thanks for the feedback. It can seem a little odd at first asking people for a review, but if done correctly it can be a big boost to getting noticed and contacted.

Jaime, I have friends that rely on Yelp to guide them in the right direction. I have used it some but not like they do.

Good post Jamie. I know I should ask for reviews - but just have not made the push yet. Hopefully you have inspired me!

Thanks, Eileen and Sonsie. A casual suggestion as part of your closing package might be a good way to start. Good luck moving forward!
