About my only luxury in life is going to my favorite full-service filling station, pulling up to the pumps and saying, "Fill er up, please," just like everyone did in the good old days.  My husband, the retired car dealer, says that there are only two of those stations left in Searcy AR and I need to enjoy my favorite one while it lasts.

Not only will they fill my tank, they will come rescue me if I have a flat 10 miles outside town, pick up my car for servicing and detailing it and then return it to me, clean my windshields, check my oil and check the air in my tires.

I know I pay them extra when they do the gas pumping but I consider it a tip and probably a tip just as deserved as our tipping waiters at restaurants.  I surely dread the day when full service is all gone.

I can't believe you still had full service stations. I haven't seen on of those in twenty years.

We are very fortunate to have them.  One is practically supported by spoiled people like me.  We love the family who runs it (husband and wife team) and don't get gas until they are open and available!

Barb:  You are truly blessed to have 'Full Service'.  Yes, I too look back on the 'good old days'.  There is a law in Portland, OR where there is no Self Serve.  All gas stations are Full Service to allow the employment of more people.

We are in the same boat as Mary. There haven't been any full service stations around for years. I can't even remember the last time I've seen one.

Joan, that's a great thing to have in Oregon.  Full service is wonderful.

Hank, perhaps there are some but you don't see them.  I don't think they advertise. You just drive up and one lane says full and the other self???  I had to use self-service today because my favorite closes on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.  I fumbled around and finally got $10 worth of gas but I hated doing it!

Thanks for comments.

I just filled up my tank today.  20+ Gallons in the cold.  I would have loved to have pulled up and say "fill it up".  I havent had that experience since I started driving (21 years).  They are not commen here.
