YOU ARE so right.  WE are in this business to relieve the stress on our buyers and sellers.

Most of the time we do that by taking on the stress.  Guess we chose this profession right..LOL

Everyday I remind myself that in the Real Estate/Lending Industries We Are In The Stress Relief Business.  From the very first contact that I have with a Borrower I try to assure them that I will make the process of obtaining a mortgage as simple and as easy as possible.  I feel that relaxing my Borrowers, and making them feel comfortable with the process of obtaining a mortgage, is as important as actually helping them obtain the mortgage.  Buying a house can be one of the most stressful experiences that anyone will ever go through, and a huge part of our jobs as Real Estate and Lending Professionals is to take as much of the stress out of the process as possible.

Purchasing a house is stressful no matter how many time a Buyer has gone through the process, but it is especially a stressful experience for First Time Homebuyers, because they have no idea of what to expect.  Buyers will stress over:

  • Whether their offer will be accepted or not.
  • Obtaining a loan.
  • Downpayment & Closing Costs.
  • New monthly payment.
  • Home Inspection.
  • Where to obtaining Homeowners Insurance.

Selling a house is no piece of cake either, especially these days with all of the inventory out there, Sellers have lots to stress about. Sellers stress about:

  • Whether they will get an offer on the house.
  • Will the offer be near what they need to be able to purchase their new house.
  • Will the house sell in time for them to have the money to buy the new house.
  • Will the house pass the Home Inspections.
  • Will the house appraise.
  • Will they be able to get a mortgage on the new house.
  • Will the Buyers be able to get a mortgage.
  • Coordinating the move between houses.

Reducing the stress for our Buyers/Borrowers starts with our first contact with them and continues with every contact that we have thereafter.  It doesn’t matter what stage of the process a Buyer/Borrower is in they will stress about it.

That is why it is so important for those of us who are assisting them to obtain their dream home hold their hand through every step, and assure them at every opportunity.  We also need to be patient in answering all their questions, no matter how silly they might be, because to them it isn’t silly.

We Are In The Stress Relief Business, and in order for us to succeed in doing that we have to work as a team.  Working as a team is the only way that we can reduce the stress for our Buyers/Borrowers.  If one person on that team is not on board with doing that, then the stress level rises, no matter how hard the rest try.

I once had someone break down the word team for me this way:

  • Together
  • Everyone
  • Achieves
  • More

We Are In The Stress Relief Business, whether we like it or not it is a major and vital part of our profession.

Ginger  Thanks for re-posting George's blog.  I agree with everything BUT my part in taking on the stress.  If you are blessed with a low IQ like me you don't have a clue what stress is!
