I had lunch at Black Sheep Restaurant in Jacksonville, FL today and am already daydreaming about my next visit there. Black Sheep is a sleek restaurant with an urban feel in the Riverside section of Jacksonville. After ordering lunch at the counter, you sit and wait for your order to be delivered. Our meals came quickly and the very friendly staff checked in with us several times, saw that our glasses were always full and eventually offered take-out containers for our leftover food.
Black Sheep prides itself upon serving food that is sourced from local farmers and purveyors. My three friends and I each ordered an appetizer and a sandwich so we could try many different menu items. We could not agree upon which food we enjoyed most but did determine that we would happily order any of the eight dishes we tried again.
Some of the highlights of the meal for me (pictured here) were the fried green olives stuffed with pimento cheese, mac and cheese, Poutine (a French-Canadian dish of hand-cut fries, cheese curd and short rib gravy), cheesy grits with bacon and Duck Banh Mi with pickled vegetables and jalapenos.
Black Sheep Restaurant is located at 1534 Oak Street, Jacksonville, FL 32204.
