Ghost Writers

This was a new term to me.  I always assumed we were writing our own blogs.  Talking to my broker enlightened me.  Seems some of our members may be using so called ghost writers.  Are you one of them.  You rather pay someone to do this than you.  Are you that lazy?  Maybe that is why some look so professional.  Just remember the personality you put in writing isn't you when someone meets with you.

John, this is not an uncommon practice.  Ultimately it's nothing more than delegating.  While I prefer to write my own content, there are times when it would nice to have someone write a rough draft for me.  We can all only do so much in a day and learning how to delegate is not necessarily bad.  I think that in terms of a blog that it's risky, but not necessarily bad business!

Is that why I don't get any readership!  I'm not professional!

I had heard about this elsewhere.  Someone was even brazen enough to offer their services to ghost write!

Seems a shame - though I wonder about the folk who write for themselves but then in order for others to read it, they log off, and then comment anonymously!

We hire assistant to do everything for us in our businesses. A bloger has the right to hire out this process to

The only problem I see with it is that the assistant is putting in their opinion etc and not the blog owner.

I personally would love to have someone proof read what I write so that I don't come across to negative or use the wrong inflection etc.   Or better yet me dictate my blog and they could "do it right"

I understand that having someone do these is very expensive.

I blog because I'm advertising myself AND MORE IMPORTANTLY I'm learning.

I believe that if that's what people want to do, then so be it. As for me, I'd rather have my personality involved in a blog that my name is attached to.

I do not use a ghost writer for my blogs.  I'm not the best writer, but I manage to get my point accross.  I feel that if an individual is not good at writing, then tere is nothing wrong using a ghost writer.  But I think that he or she should disclose this.

I feel if your paying someone to write your words, you owe it to your readership to let them know that.

John:

You are so right about personality in writing.  I have been using a ghost writer for some of my ActiveRain writings.  My ghost writer writes with a poison pen and really angers many people. Usually the liberals, Democrats and tree huggers.

Myself on the other hand, I write in a more gentle manner and I never want to offend anyone.  I usually keep my opinions to myself and I am always politically correct.

As you can tell, my ghost writer has been doing most of my writing on ActiveRain these days.  Sorry folks.

The only ghost writer I want writing my blogs is the Holy Ghost. He is always honest and pure, and speaks the truth. Now is that what Bill is talking about? I will not say everything that is said here in AR especially our conservative friends blogs and comments is this saith the Lord. As long as we adhere to the Word Of God and our convictions hold sure, we don't need anyone to write for us. I like to hear from a person's heart, and really if you are not speaking from your heart, I have no use for you or your blogs.

John, I too agree with the point if the point on your post is not yours please advise. i am here to network and do business and learn from true professionals. How does a ghost writer post on dealing with a seller who will not lower their price? Do they make up their view point or lie... I want a person true feelings and experience to share with. If your too busy that day don't post. Busy is good. My other thought is are you blogging for points then? great topic. For a real blogger on Real Estate issue check out my post. They are not the best or prettiest but it is 110% Frank Rubi. Now that is Naturally bloggin!

I agree, blogging is not just an extra task added to your plate, its a tool used to promote yourself and who you are and tell a story.  I hope great things come from your blogs.  Lu

I post somewhat regularly to my blog. However I have another blog that is intended to be about my area and not Real Estate sort of a stealth blog. However I'd like to give it a younger feel and have thought of heiring a ghost writer. For those that do how are you paying the writer per post and how much?
