Do I "Sound" Funny When I Write-Key Words in Blogging

I received a comment on one of my posts the other day asking where do I market.  It was said, not to be mean but to be kind of funny.

But...I did get it.  When reading my posts..I am sure that at times, I "sound" a bit funny and it seems like unnatural writing as I tend toListen write my key words a bunch throughout my post.

I learned a while ago from some folks that lean toward being SEO experts and Active Rain that key words are extremely important in blogging for business. The most simple way to define key words are that they are how consumers search for a particular product in Google.  They are of course not the ONLY way to be found, but key words do have a major impact on how traffic gets driven to your site.

Now, let me please throw in a disclaimer.  I am NOT an SEO expert and I don't claim to be.  So that being said, I am not trying to teach you how to post with Key Words.  For that class, you would be best to head on over to a class at Active Rain University and there are a few SEO folks here in Active Rain that can TRULY help you to learn what you need to know.  Now...back to the show...

Consumers search for a certain product in Google by typing in various search terms...we all do it, (well maybe not everybody but darn near close).  Our (My) product happens to be homes for sale and lots of stuff relating to that product.  I also live in the Greater San Antonio TX area and this is where I offer my product.  So..to put two and two together, many times I will type the words or phrases that have to do with San Antonio TX homes for sale or various terms.. and I use them a BUNCH throughout my post with some links to my other websites and or searches for homes in San Antonio...

Therefore...my posts can "sound" rather funny when you are reading them.  There is some different theories to others about how much you should do this throughout your post so as to not sound too funny.  I haven't gotten the magic number down...I just do it where it seems appropriate to put the terms..depending on what I am writing about.  What I can tell you is this...it works...people find me and they CALL me and then I get to offer them my product.

So, I know I "sound" funny when I write and I sincerely hope it doesn't become too annoying...(just read my other stuff, that's not so keywordy) but I gotta keep doing it cuz I love the sound of the phone ringing for more business :)!

Brenda: Blogs with a lot of key words are hard to read, but if the message is clear, at least you get found and got it out there. The yardstick: do you get responses from them.

I didn't recognize you in your new picture. I've been a bit absent lately. But saw Lenn's reblog. I agree that some posts do sounds funny, but I suppose it's a necessary evil. :)

I've written many posts where the keywords are used a bit too much for a "regular" reader and they come across sounding funny.  As it turns out, the latest changes in Google mean we don't need to be quite so explicit.  No matter what, if leads are being generated, that's all that matters.

Good Info, I'm glad you brought this to my attention. I am trying to direct twitter and active rain to a specific geographical area - now to figure out how I can do this is my next challenge. I'm certain it can be done using keywords -

There is a sweet spot on keywords, and only Google knows exactly where it is ... somewhere between too many obvious ones and not having enough.  Remember to use Brand names and this includes your URL, too :-)

Brenda yes the use of key words can sometimes make sentences sound a little funny, also trying to fit the title of the blog in the post a few times tends to do the same.  It is hard to structure sentences so they don't look like we were smoking some of the happy stuff when we were writing the blog :)

I do it, but try to write in the keywords so it's not so obvious.  Some people keyword stuff, but it's all about the SEO.

I'm on the keyword bandwagon too Brenda.   I try to work in Stanislaus County Short Sales a few times in my posts.  Since it does make the phone ring I am ok with it.

Brenda,

Well congrats on another excellent blog. Frankly none of us are SEO experts and I am not sure sometimes if the supposed experts really understand this SEO stuff. Using key words is extremely important for all of us and I persoanlly like the way you write and using key words does not bother me at all. I really cannot believe someone was sort of complaining?? keep up your excellent work..

Brenda I don't know about this "sounding" funny stuff, but you are funny.  I love to read your blogs.  Keep 'em comin'.  I lived in SA back in 1968 and worked at HemisFair.  I lived on the RiverWalk.  I think that building is now a 5 story condo unit.  Life was (and is) good!

Oh now that was a funny line:  where do you market.  I would have been in stitches had someone asked me that based on my blogging (where it was apparent where I marketed).  I'm going to be laughing about that all day Brenda.
