Holding an open house is an opportunity to showcase Alameda CAAlameda CA Victorian

Today, I held an open house at my listing on 7 Rutland, Alameda CA. The forecast was rain...but happily, the sun came out and smiled.

It was surprising to have so many people come today. Fortunately, most of them were friendly so I was able to strike up conversations. One gentleman drove in from Lafayette CA who said he likes to take his dogs for a walk along the beach, and thought that he may even consider moving here but he has to talk his wife into it.

Alameda CA is my favorite topic. So I told him that I’ve been a rolling stone, having lived in so many cities in Florida, Texas, New York, New Jersey and finally California. And the longest I’ve ever lived is right here in Alameda because I love it so. Alameda CA beach view of San fRancisco

How and why do I love Alameda? Let me count the ways.

….the delightful diversity of people... the eye-candy created by the many architectural styles of homes starting with magnificent Victorians. According to Alameda Magazine, “It’s said there are more Victorian-style homes in Alameda, based on our population, than anywhere else in the country.”

… the delightful weather. The rains we have here are practically a trickle compared to the thunderstorms and lightning (and occasional tornadoes) we had in Texas and in Florida, and how we never have to endure harsh blizzards Fortman Marina

… the beach...the views...the wonderful bike/walk/jog/picnic opportunities at Crown Memorial State Beach Park...the free outdoor summers at Crab Cove

...the restored and historic Alameda Theater that boasts a fabulous lobby and main screen in addition to 7 other smaller screens. This is a major draw to the thriving Park Street shopping district

… the infusion of wonderful Alameda restaurants that create our own gourmet mecca. My absolute favorite is Zen’s Asian Fusion Tapas Bar.

… the many events like Park Street’s Art and Wine Faire, the July 4th Parade and the annual Lighted Boat Parade that give this island town its local flavor and lifeAlameda Oakland Lighted Boat Parade.

… that we even have BikeAlameda.org valet park the bikes during such events?

...and let’s not forget the wineries at Alameda Point. Rosenblum Cellars. Rock Wall. In addition to vodka tasting at Hangar One.

….the easy commute to San Francisco which is only 13-15 miles away if one drives. But why drive if one can hop on the Express Bus to San Francisco, or take the ferry. Commuting is a breeze.

There’s more!

I told him he simply just needs to move here. On cue, he took my business card, and said he will tell his wife about what he learned today, and arrange to come take a look. I offered to be his guide :)

Well after that wonderful summary of life in Alameda how could one NOT want to take up residentce? Glad to hear you had a good open house - that seems to be the case all over these days. And best of luck with what appears to be a new client.
