This popular event is the 36^th Annual Sandy Claws Beach Run in Sarasota FL; it is sponsored by Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Department and the Manasota Track Club.

It is held at beautiful Siesta Beach, located at 948 Beach Road, Sarasota FL 34242

Registration begins 7:00 am Saturday morning December 8, 2012 at the south picnic shelter.

Registration fee is $25.00 which includes a T-shirt, (available while supplies last). Contact 941-861-5000 for details or visit Sarasota County website here.

There are two options for the Beach Run in Sarasota FL, - a 1 mile fun run or 5K run which uses Chrono Track timing.

The I mile run will start at 8:00am and the 5K run starts at 8:20am

Also, awards are presented to all age groups and all registered runners will have a chance to win prizes from the raffle draw.

Just a reminder, remember to put on your sun tan lotions to avoid sun burn.

Hi Kwee,

I ran for many years until my left knee started hurting a lot but nothing makes you feel as good as coming in after a long run and you have beat your time. I loved racing but really jogged most of the time especially the marathons. Looks like they are going to have a great time. Are you running in it? My daughter does Ironman events but nothing I could do especially the run in the cold ocean. Does not sound like fun!
