Season's Eatings!

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Platinum

You don't need to swear off sweets this month to avoid weight gain. Here are some tips for you to have your cake and eat it too at holiday gatherings:

1. Before you leave, have a pre party snack like a hard boiled egg or about 10 almonds an hour before the festivities. Both contain some protein and healthy fats, which can keep you satiated for about 2 hours.

2. When getting ready, opt for your favorite outfit. When you are smiling and confident, your endorphin levels increase.

3. Throughout the hors d'oeuvre hour, load up on filler foods. Pick relatively low calorie options, like chicken skewers or a few pieces of steamed shrimp with cocktail sauce.

4. During the main meal, circle the table. Survey the options first, and you will make better food choices.

5. For your final course, have dessert. Don't leave the party without treating yourself. Try a few chocolate covered strawberries or a scoop of sherbet. you are rewarding your good behavior and ending the nigh satisfied.

Or drink two gallons of water and suddenly everything looks good but no thanks happens. A tad water logged, spending a lot of time in the bathroom away from sweets and hey. No gym membership needed or depression from the ho ho ho calories that formed a truck tire around the waste, ballooned the thighs. Merry Christmas. Beating the buffet is not part of the festivities if you chose to be sensible and think ahead of the regret.
