Emotional Capital and Effective Business Practices Go Hand in Hand
In class last week we discussed the importance of "Emotional Capital" and how, if emotions are involved in advertising, entertainment, marketing....effective results arise when our emotions are engaged.
Think back to Superbowl Commercials...which ones do you remember? The ones that made you laugh, or had you tearing up?
How about crises...I'm certain you can remember, as I can, where you were when you first heard the breaking news on 9/11. I can remember seeing the Space Shuttle Challenger explode, and where and what I was doing. Emotions are strong. Not to go down a negative path, but I do want to emphasize that where our emotions are involved, our hearts, minds, and body follow.
So...think about your emotional capital and your business. In fact, let's just see what a thesaurus says about the word, "EMOTIONAL".
Expressive
Open
Demonstrative
Sensitive
Responsive
Passionate
Moving
How might those words enhance your business? What are your clients' expectations?
At my last listing appointment, I sat down to meet a lady who'd been listed with several previous agents. I asked her about her expectations. The seller wanted an agent that was honest, (open), followed through, (demonstrative) and answered her phone calls and emails. (Responsive) I'm pretty sure my passion and knowledge of local real estate, and sensitivity for her previous real estate history, all helped me to seal the listing presentation. And yes, when we recently closed a double transaction together, that was moving!
Are you taking advantage of emotional capital in your business practices today?
