I finally “succumbed” to an AR meet-up. It was in Cocoa Beach, good 79 miles from me. Why Cocoa? Why not Orlando? Because Orlando has not hosted a meet up ever. I am puzzled why nobody hosted a meet-up in Orlando, with all active AR members in the area… But they don’t, so my choices are several hour drive to South Florida, or just an hour and 20 minutes to Cocoa Beach.
How the host Diana Zaccaro manages to do it in tiny Cocoa Beach was a burning question. So, my wife agreed to accompany me and we went. There are no miracles in life, me and my wife were the half of the party.
Gary Waters and Diana Zaccaro
Not that it was a disappointment; it simply was an answer to my burning question. So, except yours truly, accompanied by my watchful wife Olga, there was a host Diana Zaccaro, and Gary Waters. I know both from Active Rain.
Gary had an appointment and had to leave earlier, and we stayed and chatted with Diana.
I am often torn between physical and virtual. I was not sure about AR meet-ups, the new toy for AR, and if you believe what members write, it is the best thing after sliced bread. Better than AR? Not that I get it. It is a virtual community, and is pretty good as virtual community. I do not feel the need to get out of the shell and get physical, but this is me.
Do I regret going 79 miles to pretty much talk to Diana? Actually no. I am not looking for networking, I am not looking for referrals. So there was nothing to be disappointed. We had a lovely conversation.
Will I go to another meet-up? No, I will not. I have satisfied my curiosity.
I forgot about the lobster. How could I? Here is the lobster.
Gary and the lobster. Just don't tell his wife about it.(LOL)
After all the meet-up was at Jack Baker’s Lobster Shanty
My wife Olga… and the lobster
