Hi Everyone,

It has been awhile since I have written to you all, but things have been
a bit wild. I have a success story to share with you that hopefully will encourage some
of you to hang in there..

Today, we will discuss a site that was google panda penalized but is now on page 1 and doing great!

Top of the search engine

Moving a site into page 1 in Google can be very difficult. When a site is under penalty, it can be near impossible.

One of my earlier posts featured the site, www.mastersint.com and I had shared how this site was Google Panda
penalized when I purchased the domain. It was a 19 year old domain that had been RUINED by it's previous
owners. It had been so poorly done that it did not show up in any search engine in the first 20 pages or worse.

I was able to quickly move the site to position 1 in all the other major search engines by simply re-doing the
site, and adhering to proper SEO techniques. The challenge was Google. Moving onto page 1 in Google
was an 84 day process for me. If your site has been penalized by Google, and you are not willing to make the
changes required to get off their list, and you are not willing to commit to be patient during the process, you
may as well just purchase a new domain and start over.. The choice is yours but the 84 day wait was well
worth it to me to be getting daily requests and new customers.

get above the competition

Before I go into what it takes to recover, let me warn you that the #1 ingredient is patience. When a site
is penalized by Google and you are losing money on a daily basis, it is very hard to "wait" for your site to
magically recover. Many people experience the temptation to try to "fix" things.

Here are the steps I took to bring the site MastersInt.Com from DOA to position 6 in Google for a highly
profitable search term in 84 days.

  1. Clean up all incoming links by contacting the sites and removing the spammy ones.
  2. Clean up the site to add lots of whitespace and well formatted paragraphs.
  3. Make sure you have not "Over Optimized" ... Ie, don't stuff keywords etc.
  4. Make sure your Title, Meta Keywords, Meta Description, and Content AGREE!
  5. Have one or 2 outbound links to relevant sites (hopefully not your competitors).
  6. WAIT, WAIT, WAIT till you KNOW the site has been indexed and check your position.
  7. Make minor adjustments and WAIT WAIT WAIT till the next index.

That is exactly what I did to MastersInt.Com, and the site is now solidly in position 6 in Google
for the search term "Quality SEO", proof here.

I know this may seem like nothing to many of you, but this site was like not even in the index it was
SO dead. Many people have railed at me for these posts, but I am trying to give you practical ways
to recover your business without paying for SEO services.

Keep watching my posts, in the next week or so I will do a post on how our new RETS service helps
sites to index quickly without the issues of most IDX sites getting penalized due to STUFFING keywords.

Have a great day and looking forward to seeing you AT THE TOP!

P.S. Yes, I took these pictures myself... It was a very fun day!

Margaret,   Thanks for commenting.. ok.. on the pictures, that was a crew who came in to do some work on the high tension power lines through Blair Ne where I manage technology for a trucking firm up there. Since years ago I had done alot of "tower" work, I was asked to take photographs of the work they did. It was way cool because although it is not clear in the photos, all the work was actually done at around 120 feet above the ground on two adjacent towers. My 300MM telephoto lens on my Canon Digital Rebel EOS camera did the trick.

On your site, we completed several modules in the past few weeks on our RETS system, and your new site (with RETS Listings) will be live by late tonight.

Thank you and have a WONDERFUL day!

Joe:

What a lot of work to recover your position on Google, but I guess it was worth it.  Good information on how to restore your place on Google.

Hi Fernando, Thanks for commenting.. You are 100% correct... Google is keeping me VERY busy. So many people have lost so much business with these IDIOTIC updates. I would prefer to get regular business, and not be trying to rescue sites that have done great for years, but are now tanked. Have a great day my friend.

Thanks Joe, like Kathy, I have learned something new today.

I am not sure that I would have the patience or ability to save a dead site like this, chances are that I would have found a new url and moved on with a fresh site.
