Wow Melissa!  That is really a home office in that master bedroom!  It looks much more relaxing in your "after".  I would not feel that way in the "before".

I agree with you, but I am sitting in the bedroom right now.

The bedroom is for romance not work.  Not everyone has mixed the two so when staging the bedroom shoudl be a bedroom.

Melissa, I am also finding that sellers have their office in their living room. In a small home with kids, sometimes there isn't another space to put the computer. I have suggested them to move it to the family room or even remove it all together. This can be a tricky one, especially if they use it often ;)

Looks wonderful and sooooo much better.  How did you get the home owners to agree to move out their furniture so you could bring yours in??

Karel - absolutely.... it goes back to the whole concept of selling is different than living

Lori - it definately can be a tricky process... I got lucky with this home.  They were going to move it out of the bedroom anyway, but when they moved somewhere else it made it super easy!

Sandra - just as I said to Lori above, the owners moved out.  This is the same home as the blog I wrote about targeting your demographics.  I was there when it was occupied, then staged when they moved out.

Yeah, Melissa-the filing cabinets and carpet protector under the chair are definate bedroom turn-offs! I have been able to pull off a computer in the bedroom only once-with a built in bookcase and desk in a townhome. But we used a chair that did not look like an office & cleaned off everything but the monitor.

SO pretty, Melissa! I see this more in guest rooms, but it always helps to choose one function for each room! Personally, I can't imagine sleeping with my office in the same room! I don't even have a TV in my bedroom! It's my haven away from all those distractions!

Restful and luxurious achieved, very nice job!  We don't often see a home office in a master bedroom, but rather in a guest bedroom, den/study, or basement.  The room looks wonderfu, spacious and free of clutter now that the home office has been relocated. 

Melissa - Computers in the BR are a pet peave of mine.  The room looks fantastic - love the red accents. 

Kathy - the important thing is that the room feel relaxing... not cluttered and stressful like this office was!

Elaine - I don't mind offices in guest rooms & have even purposefully staged some homes that way.  The master bedroom is almost always a no-no!

Lisa - I feel like I see them in masters all the time, but most commonly in mid to low priced homes.  This was an older couple who actualy had a FROG they could have put it in, but they didn't want to walk up stairs all the time...

Maureen - I'll admit when my husband was in the Navy ours was in our bedroom - there was no other place to put one.  I understand it for living, but not for staging.... different needs come into play...

Melissa - awesome work!  And you're right, I would feel much more relaxed, as a buyer, without the office set-up.

Question - how are you getting such a crisp look on the bed?  There doesn't appear to be a wrinkle had.

Kathy - The bed linens are very silky - this helps keep them from being too wrinkley.  Most of the time it just takes tons of ironing!  I hate wrinkles!

I love what you did here.  Not a fan of 'offices' in bedrooms, either. 

Fantastic work Melissa.  I love that headboard.  Is it actually a headboard or is it fasioned out of screen or wall hanging.  Very cool!

Abby - they just don't work in a staged home.... though I do understand their occassional need in real life.

Lonni - It is a Pier 1 'wall art' screen.  We use them frequently as they are light, easy to carry, easy to store & best of all.... inexpensive!

Janice - I am pretty sure they came from TJ Maxx, red pillows are from Target and small black one from Pier 1 ....
