“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”
~ Benjamin Franklin
Ben Franklin had a lot of really great advice to give. Back in our younger years….and I mean our much younger years…..staying out late and sleeping in were the norm. But has our maturity into early to bed and early to rise really made us healthy, wealthy, and wise?
As we near the winter solstice, it’s getting easier to keep Old Ben’s advice, epecially the early to bed part. We finish showing houses and prospecting by 4:30 and have fewer showing appointments in the evenings now that the winter is setting in. We’re still up before the sun every morning, getting our daily dose of Active Rain and planning out our days, though, so the early to rise part is pretty easy for us all year long. But has following Ben’s advice helped our business?
Are we healthier? Probably. Plenty of sleep helps health. Avoiding late night snacks and drinks helps health, too.
Are we wealthier? I'd say so. We get up early, attend either a networking meeting or an office meeting, and then begin prospecting on a nearly daily basis. While we're hardly wealthy (yet...), certainly this has helped our bottom line more than staying up late would ever help.
Are we wiser? Jury's still out, but since we use those early morning hours to brush up on our blogging and learn from some of the best realtors out there, we like to think we’re wiser for this habit, too.
So what do you think? Is early to bed and early to rise a worthwhile axiom to live by? Or do you love the nightlife too much to give it up?
