Recently at the annual Illinois Association of Realtors Graduate Realtor Institute Grad course - http://www.illinoisrealtor.org/gri-grad - one of the speakers Patti Kouri taught on re-calculating our Inner-GPS. She gave us some cool tools to apply to our business.
Two of the most memorable tools were an excercise in just making ourselves laugh. She taught us how to fully embrace Joy, as a vital tool to re-gain strenght to face stress head-on, and/or overcome difficult challenges. Another tool helped us to identify what she called "Psychic-Vampires."
We learned "PVs" is an old something Patti's given a "New-School" term, which can be a person, place, thing, and/or anything in our lives draining all of our energy. She had us to personally identify anything or anyone we are giving far too much of our valuable energy and time, ultimately keeping us from moving daily closer to our goals. What I cherished most from her teaching was how to train myself to allow my dreams to call out to me so no matter what detours show up daily, I keep myself on the path towards what I really want to accomplish.
Patti, reminded the workshop of over 150 GRI Graduates in attendance, how important it is to keep images of our dreams before our eyes. She shared how looking at those images daily helps our sub- and/or super-conscious activity of our minds believe the dream is already accomplished, resulting in our keeping ourselves moving in the direction of making those dreams come true.
This refresher took me back to 12 years ago when I toured a 5000+ square-foot new construction model in the town of Frankfort, Illinois, an affluent Chicago-Southland suburb I had been dreaming of moving to since a decade earlier. The builder gave me a beautiful 10x12" Artist-rendering photo of the model I so admired. I hung the photo in a place by my office desk where-by I would look at everyday.
At the time I was given the photo, building a custom home of that size, quality, and location was what I believed to be a far in the future dream for me to accomplish. Amazingly, within 2 years everything in my life moved right into place for me to procure a Custom Builder who built my custom dream home as if He was building my home for his very own self. Looking at that significant photo every day cause my dream to call out to me, without me really consciously paying attention, to the most powerful tool I was ultilizing to cause my dream to keep me on the path heading towards my dream. If what I just shared has not hit you as a revelation, please read what I've just share over and over again until it does. I am living proof it really works!
Now, I am again giving myself a new assignment to complete before the end of 2012, to place the images of what I really desire to accomplish in front of my eyes to gaze upon daily. This is why Realtors who have big dreams must become GRI-Grads!
Finally, please allow me to borrow a statement Oprah Winfrey gave me when I first met her when she first came to Chicago long before all of the national fame and fortune embraced her life. She told me to believe my future is so bright, it just may burn my eyes!
