In some ways i am asking myself the question, as I sit here in the wee hours again.
Social media has tajken hold. It isn't just AR, which I have been remiss in staying up-to-date wtih. It's all of the social media outlets we can be seen on. I haven't even been able to grab my Klout perskedIn, becuase I am answering DM on Twitter, or PM on Facebook, adding pins on Pinterest, building something on Manta, editing still more FB pages, attending a clss on being more effective on social media, or doing some other task... like answering email.
Tryig nmy best to keep client's needs focused out there, research a topic that is interesting, or spreading a little humor can be a full time job. Not even Hootsuite can take all of hte edge off, using scheduled posts.
It struck home when a friend said I was ant social, in jest, because he sees me everywhere now. I explained that I am usually on hold, when he sees a rash of posting going on, nad that is how I remain civil with the many short sale negotiators I have to deal with.We had a good laugh, and it was then I realized how man things have me in front of the public. The brokerage I work fro hosts a lot of events andd offers a lot of coaching form various consultants on social media. None of them to date has said that I need add more or dhange a lot of my content. They have all said that I have a handle on the topic.
I have had to learn to limit the amount of time I do SM tasks to drive time between points, using speech-to-text on my Samsung Galaxy SII for Twitter ad FB. I also schedule posts to the main feeds via Hootsuite, setting up 20-30 quick posts, or pictures linked to my Pinterest account over several days, across 4-5 feeds. That take about an hour, as aI am a voracious reader and writer. I try to post at least on recipe every 3-4 days on my cookbook.
Somehow, I still find time to balance a bunch of transactions, though. How about you? What effect has social media played in your business and life?
