Alameda Civic Ballet Presents the Nutcracker Suite on December 15 and 16, 2012
Alameda CA is not a big island. Heck, we barely have 80,000 residents. But our town is rich with cultural events, the most recent being Alameda Civic Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker at the Kofman Theater on 2200 Central Avenue.
There are two performances:
Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 2 PM
Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 2 PM
I remember years ago in Orlando FL when I took my Dad who was visiting from California to see the Nutcracker show. At first, both he and Gary hemmed and hawed and tried to weasel out of going. They couldn’t imagine themselves watching a ballet show, for goodness sake.
But once we were there, they were transfixed and mesmerized. My father kept wondering, “How do they do that?” And under his breath, he kept saying “beautiful!”. The funny thing is both Dad and Gary couldn’t stop talking about the show long after we left the theater.
So I hope that we recreate that fascination when my sister and I take my 88-year old parents to see a performance on Sunday. It will be a most memorable day for all of us.
