If you're like me, your Gmail or Google Apps inbox is incredibly important to you. I use Gmail for my personal as well as my work email accounts, and am constantly looking for ways to improve my Gmail productivity. From keyboard shortcuts, to the addition of new Labs, to features that remain even less obvious, there is so much that you can do with Gmail, especially in comparison to other web-based email platforms.
I was recently skimming my Twitter feed when I came across this article, which discusses a REALLY great tip that I've found to be really useful. In particular, I use it to highlight particular sections of emails to which I'm directly responding to avoid any confusion. I also really like it when I only need to pass on a particular portion of an email to someone else on my team (or beyond). In particular, when it comes to real estate, it would be really useful when it came to passing on important information about a property, without necessarily including the writer's personal opinions or any other sensitive information.
Without further ado, the "best secret Gmail feature" -- and it's hiding in plain sight!
1. Select the text from the original email to which you are replying in Gmail.
2. Hit "Reply" or "Forward."
3. Voila! Only the snippet that you've highlighted will appear in the email body message.
Pretty neat! What's your favorite use for this Gmail feature?
