Recycle Your Christmas Tree - Denver Metro

Recycle your Christmas tree

Denver Residents

Your Christmas tree gave you so much joy during the holidays, now give it a second life and recycle it with Denver Treecycle 2013 program.  Denver Public Works Solid Waste Management will be collecting Christmas trees for recycling starting December 31st through January 11th.  All Denver residents whose trash is collected by Denver Public Works Solid Waste Management may participate.    The chipped mulch will be given away in the spring to Denver residents.

  • No artificial or flocked trees. Real Christmas trees only.
  • Dumpster service customers should place their Christmas tree out for recycling in the alley.
  • Barrel and Manual service customers should place their Christmas tree out for recycling on their scheduled trash days.
  • Do not place trees in dumpsters. Trees should be placed at least 4 feet away from dumpsters.

Aurora Residents
Dec. 26 to mid-January (check back for specific end date)
Deal Mar Park - 12000 E. Sixth Ave.: Olympic Park - 15505 E. Yale Ave., and Saddle Rock Golf Course - 21705 E. Arapahoe Road.   Remove all nails, decorations and stands from tree. Free tree mulch will be available at the tree drop-off locations, while supplies last, from Dec. 29 to mid-January. Bring a truck, bags, containers and shovels for self-loading.

Parker Residents
The Town will host its second annual Christmas Tree recycling program from Dec. 26 through Jan. 27 for Parker residents. The drop-off site will be the east paved Salisbury Ballpark parking lot, located at 12010 S. Motsenbocker Road in Parker.  Drop off will be during park hours only, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Please do not illegally dump any other items at the drop-off location. Both green and flocked real trees will be accepted. Before dropping off any Christmas trees, please remove all tree stands and nails, ornaments, lights, garland and tinsel. No artificial trees or garland will be accepted. Residents should not place Christmas trees in garbage containers.

The trees collected by the program will be chipped into mulch and will be available at no charge to residents. Mulch should be available the first week in January.   Remaining mulch will be utilized throughout the Town rather than discarded in a landfill. For more information, call 303.840.9546.

These are just some of Cities around the Denver Metro area that have announced Christmas Tree drop off sites.

We have a local high school that offers to pickup and recycle the xmas trees. It's not free but very reasonable.

Joan, Once again, you inspired me.  I need to write a post about recycling Christmas Trees as well.  We need to take care of Mother Earth and recycle what we can, when we can.  Merry Christmas.

Can't you just store it, spray paint it green next year? Good advice on how to get those needles out of the house and where they belong. Ho Ho Ho!

Great local info for Denver area residents to recycle their Christmas Tree! We have an artificial tree, so will be placing it in the basement on Jan 2. Although, I want my house back in order and am so tempted to do it today, lol!

Have a wonderful week!

Joan, that is good information for local residents with real Christmas Trees.  I will be posting one this week about a fundraiser that a local Boy Scout Troop is doing as a Christmas Tree Pick-Up
