True Social Networking - People reaching out

It is January 27, 2008 and there is an event happening in my town and the neighboring town called "Shining Peace Upon the Petits". A local family was the subject of a brutal home invasion a few months ago and the community is still feeling the effects. We all hope that the the violent people who carried out this senseless act will be prosecuted.

In the mean time, we are hurting . . . still. Driving to the grocery store I took a little video of what is going on tonight in my town. Hundreds, thousands of little luminaries (candles in white bags) were purchased in honor of this family and line miles and miles of road from Southington to Plainville, Connecticut. The organization that did this has a website http://www.shiningpeace.org/info.php

Here is a little video that I created in tribute to the family. Although we don't know the direct family, my husband gets coffee at the little deli that one of the other brothers owns and has watched this family age very quickly.

Social networking is really just people reaching out to people.

I watched the report on the news tonight Amy.  I hope the spirit of community brings some comfort to everyone who has been affected by this senseless tragedy.

Sorry to hear about this horrible thing.  Many years ago our community was struck with a related diaster.  It was sad for all of us, but the community did all it could for the families.  I am sure they appreciate your support.

Amy, What a wonderful thing the community is doing! Isn't it amazing to see how nice it feels when people just think about how they can help others?
