The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce earlier this month name Larry Blodgett the Lafayette Marquis Business Person of the Year. This award is given to the individual that supports the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce's mission to someone who:
- Promotes and maintain a healthy business climate and to preserve and enhance the quality of life in Lafayette
- Has given of their time, money or energy to help make Lafayette a healthy community, where people will want to live, work and shop
- Models excellence in everything they do.
- Brings us together and makes us proud to be a member of the community.
Larry was a unanimous pick.
Larry, a lifetime resident of Lafayette, is a business in Lafayette, Larry served for many years on the Lafayette Design & Review Commission, is a past-President of the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and has been a Chamber Board member for so long he "termed" Out and was asked to serve an additional one year "at-large".
On January 25, 2008, at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa, Larry was presented his award. The event included Mayor Mike Anderson giving the "State of the City Address", the introduction of our new Lafayette Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors (of which I am one), our new and returning Chamber of Commerce President Larry Duson. Mike Zampa acted as Master of Ceremonies. He and others roasted Larry during the evening. Steve Falk, city manager, performed a roast in song with Mike Zampa that brought the house down.
I personally do not know of a more deserving person to be honored for this award than Larry Blodgett. GOOD GOING LARRY!
