The Culpeper State Theatre project is making headway

The Culpeper State Theater is coming back to life after years of history dating back to the 30's.

The building became severely deteriorated after 1993 when it was closed, prior to it's closing it was known as Culpeper's primary movie Theatre. The Theatre was left alone and later purchased in 2004 in the effort to save the State Theater from demolition. There was also potential for this site to be renovated in to office/retail space.

With a vision a Foundation was established in early of 2006. The State Theatre Foundation, Inc had been born.

The continued vision in May of 2008, the State Theatre was placed on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places.

We are pleased to be a part of a town and community with a vision.

Wed Dec 19, 2012 The Grand Illumination of the Marquee will take place on Main St in front of the Theatre.

Fundraising continues. The most interesting and fun way you can be a part of history is a few of the following ways....

Have your name displayed on a seat,    A brick on the Sidewalk with your name                    Also, a star at the entrance of the Theatre.
