Holiday Drink RecipesHow are those party plans coming along? Have all your foods planned out … ‘what would go good with what’? Well, here are a couple of good party-pleasing punches that you can proportion to the size of your event; guaranteed to put the ‘top on the tree’!

Happy Times Punch

2 (6 oz) cans Frozen Lemonade concentrate

1 (6 oz) can Frozen Orange Juice concentrate

9 cups Cold Water

5 pints Pineapple Sherbet

1 qt Vanilla Ice Cream

Vodka or Champagne – to taste (optional)

Combine frozen concentrated juices and water; mix until fully thawed and blended. Cut sherbet and ice cream into cubes, and place in bottom of large punchbowl. Pour juice mixture over cubes (if using Vodka or Champagne, pour immediately after juice mixture); stir only until sherbet and ice cream are partially melt. Garnish of strawberries and orange slices can be added to rim of punch bowl for festive effect.

‘Turkey Gravy Punch’ (I know it sounds yucky, but it is delicious)

2 (6oz) cans Frozen Cranberry Raspberry Juice

1 (6 oz) can Lemonade

4 cups Cold Water

1 large bottle Club Soda (or 7-Up, or Sprite)

Vodka – to taste (optional)

Mix frozen juices and water until thawed and well blended. Pour into large punchbowl and add bottle of club soda; stir to blend. Add Vodka, if desired. Float large ice cubes or ice slices containing slices of oranges and/or lemons and/or limes.

Blackberry Mojito Punch

3 cups Blueberry-Blackberry Juice Blend

2 (12 oz) cans Frozen Mojito Mix

2 (1 liter) bottles Club Soda (Chilled)

1 1/2 cups White Rum

3 Limes (sliced)

Garnish

1 (12 oz) pkg Frozen Blackberries

Fresh Mint Springs

Mix blueberry-blackberry juice blend, mojito mix and chilled club soda together; pour into large punchbowl. Add white rum and stir to mix; then, float frozen blackberries and fresh mint sprigs to garnish.

Bubbly Apple Punch

2 sprigs Fresh Mint (crushed)

1/3 cup Sugar

2 Tbsp Lemon Juice

1 qt bottle Apple Juice

4/5 qt bottle Chablis (chilled)

1 qt bottle Sparkling Water (chilled)

Place crushed mint, sugar, lemon juice, and apple juice in a small saucepan and bring just to a boil; set aside to cool. After mixture is totally cooled, strain and chill. When ready to serve, pour chilled mixture over a small block of ice in a punchbowl. Add chilled Chablis and sparkling water.

Two good punches for parties where children will be attending are:

1/2 gal Vanilla Ice Cream

1 large bottle Hawaiian Punch

1 large bottle 7-Up

Carefully mix Hawaiian Punch and 7-Up together. Place large scoops of vanilla ice cream separately in large punch bowl; then, pour punch mixture over the scoops of ice cream. (Make in proportion to amount of children attending.)

… another delicious and punch-lover one is:

1/2 gal Vanilla Ice Cream

1/2 gal Lime … or Orange Sherbet

2 large bottles 7-Up … or Sprite

Place large scoops of ice cream and sherbet in a large punch bowl; pour 7-Up (or Sprints over the scoops.

Kids love these two punches and will holler for more. As the ice cream and sherbet melts, the taste gets better and better.

So … here’s toasting to you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Cheryl~ It's always nice to have an alternative to Egg Nog.  We are having some folks over on New Year's Eve.  Maybe we'll make some punch!
