We took our granddaughter to the first evening of Las Posadas this year. The evening was cold but the threatening rain held off. The procession from the front of the Mission to Von Till’s Law Offices went off without a hitch. The entertainment provide by the “Anza Street Troubadours” – Steve and three of his guitar playing friends – was a good natured, old-fashioned, song fest of familiar Christmas carols. My granddaughters were delighted and actually sang along. They were especially taken by the “Twelve Days of Christmas” in which the men and women sang alternating verses. Ella, the 6-year old, asked if she could take the song sheet with her so that she and her sister could sing the song at home.

Las Posadas is not a big production which is part of the charm of the event. For a down-home activity that is in the spirit of the season and totally family friendly, I heartily recommend it.

Los Posadas sounds like a good tradition. It is so wonderful to have an event that the entire family can enjoy together.

John, We have so much history and culture here in the bay area. I like the fact that the Las Posadas is not a big production. A local event that is not "commercialized" and is in the spirit of the holiday season would be a great family event. I'm glad it did not rain the night your took your grand-daughter!

We had a family get-together today and the little girls were still talking about the singing that they did at Las Posadas. Good memory for their mental scrapbooks.
