Holiday boat parade lights up the waterways - the "World's Most Watched Boat Parade"

Thousands lined up Saturday evening along the parade's 12-mile route to enjoy the annual floating holiday party. Now in its 41st year, the parade featured more than 100 whimsically decorated vessels ranging in size from mega yachts to paddle boards.

Even the world's largest floating alligator head participated. Hollywood artist Lloyd Goradesky and Everglades historian Cesar Becerra brought out their 100-foot long "Gator on the Bay" art project fresh from Art Basel. The gator head, built aboard a barge, featured members of the Seminole Tribe wrestling live alligators.

I'm a big fan of this event and have gone to watch the parade 3 or 4 times now.If I'm not visiting with friends who have condos overlooking the Intercoastal, I and whomever I've gone with have usually hung close to the starting area for the parade, which is near Riverwalk/Broward Performing Arts Center.

You can then walk along Riveralk or the waterfront across the Intercoastal from Riverwalk to check out all the lighted and decorated boats, as this is where they line up and depart from.
