Software: Cropping And Fixing Photos In Microsoft Publisher

You don't need to purchase expensive software to crop and adjust digital pictures for use in hard copy and electronic flyers. Cropping edges and adjusting brightness and contrast is easy in Microsoft Publisher. Here are the instructions.

  • Right click on your picture in Microsoft Publisher.
  • Select Format Picture... from the contextual menu.

  • Click on the Picture tab.
  • Change the crop settings to crop wasted space from the top, bottom, and sides of your picture.
  • Adjust the brightness and contrast settings to improve the clarity of your picture if needed.
  • If you don't like your brightness and contrast adjustments, click RESET to restore the original brightness and contrast settings.
  • Click OK to save your changes.

That's how easy it is to do basic cropping and lighting corrections in Microsoft Publisher. The same method also works in Microsoft Word 2003 and Microsoft Excel 2003. Microsoft Word 2007 and Microsoft Excel 2007 use icons on the new Microsoft ribbon, but Microsoft Publisher 2007 still uses the old Format Picture controls shown above.

Thanks!

Frank -Good reminder that with Microsoft software you already have a device to crop photos,  no real need to look any further.

Jennifer, have you tried Word 2007 yet?

Bill, most of the graphics you see in my posts were created or perfected in Adobe Photoshop.  For brokers and agents, I believe Adobe Photoshop Elements offers all the important capabilities of Photoshop at a fraction of the cost.

Bill, I haven't taught a Photoshop class yet, but I could create one if needed.
