I met a young couple this past weekend, both in their early 20's & planning a wedding. The most surprising things was the fact that they were contemplating renting a house at first but weren't too sure what was going to be better for them.
For many young couples the thought of spending $200,000 or more on something can be quite overwhelming. I can certainly understand that but many of these young couples would not hesitate on spending $35,000 to $40,000 on a brand new vehicle. What do we hear so often after driving off the car lot? The beautiful, brand new and shinny car has just depreciated by $5,000 to $10,000 as soon as you drove off the lot.
When you purchase a home, more often that not your asset will appreciate in value over time. A vehicle ... well I am not too sure but from my experience most vehicles (I think 99.9% of them) will not appreciate over time. So why is it that many people are so afraid of making the decision of buying a home. Is it because they are not sure who to talk to, or maybe not sure where to start?
Take some time to look around, ask questions and go see a Realtor before making such a life defining decision. You will be very happy you did, trust me.
