History of Addison Mizner - Visit my website History Page for a summary of Mizner's story (pardon my dated site, I am in the process of updating it, but this is a summary I put together a few years ago that highlights his history).
Much of Addison Mizner's success is due to his adaptation of Spanish architecture to Florida's balmy climate ... His clientele soon included the Vanderbilts, Stotesburys and Biddles, building more than 40 homes in the Palm Beach area ... The Mizner Brothers formed a development corporation with financial backing of the du Pont's, Vanderbilts, Elizabeth Arden, Irving Berlin and Paris Singer .....
..... Boca Raton's centerpiece became The Cloister Inn, a small but lavish 110-room Inn that opened it's doors on February 6, 1926 ... South Florida and the rest of the country went
through the difficult years of the Depression and WW II, but soldiers who trained in Florida, returned after the war, reared families, started businesses and created a housing and recreation boom .....
Today, the Boca Resort & Club is a luxury resort and private country club offering premiere facilities that are set amongst 350 acres of lush tropical landscaping. Enjoy a championship golf course, a new $10 million Tennis & Fitness Center with 18 tennis courts, a 23 slip marina, a private beach at the Resort's Boca Beach Club, and dozens of the finest lounges and cafes. The Club membership is open to everyone. There are several exclusive residential developments located on the grounds of the resort, which offer these fabulous amenities right outside your door - Addison Estates and Mizner Lake Estates, Mizner Tower and Mizner Court condos and the Mizner Grand Luxury condos. Picture to right below also shows the Townsend Place Condos in the distance. Picture to the left below is of the Marina and Resort Yacht Club hotel rooms.
The historical tour sounds like an enlightening reminisce of those early days of Boca Raton's history.
Call or email me for information on any of the above residential communities.
