Here is the breakdown as of January 28th, 2008

Most areas are seeing an INCREASED number of properties UNDER CONTRACT.  With lower Interest Rates; more buyers seem to heading into the market.

Here are the number of homes on the market including the number of homes that were taken Off (EXPIRED) the market last week.  

example: Single Family Homes in DC; 5 more on market from last week, but 17 "expired" - in reality 22 new listings came on the market.

Washington DC

Single Family:     Actives: 1715 (Up 5 from last week)           Expired: 17       Under Contract: 355

Condos:             Actives: 1343 (Up 41 from last week)         Expired: 8         Under Contract: 324

Arlington County

Single Family:     Actives: 460 (Up 10 from last week)           Expired: 4         Under Contract: 98

Condos:             Actives: 498 (Down 22 from last week)       Expired: 6         Under Contract: 98

Prince Georges County

Single Family:     Actives: 6278 (Up 18 from last week)         Expired: 70       Under Contract: 494

Condos:             Actives:  813  (Down 2 from last week)       Expired: 6         Under Contract: 98

It is important to see the number of homes taken "Off" the market.  While many of these homes will return to the marketplace a week or two; seeing a listing "expire" means that the seller and agent thought or expected the home to be sold by now.
