Holiday Traditions - we all have them, here are a few of my family's. What are your family's traditions?
It is the holiday season. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day, we all celebrate the holidays in some special and unique way. It may be everyone gathering at someone’s home, to going to your favorite vacation spot, to having certain traditions that you follow. At our home, Christmas time has always been special and we have certain traditions and rituals that we do each year.
Many years ago, my husband gave me a cookbook that had recipes that matched each member of the Manger scene as well as traditional holiday recipes. The kids and I decided to try some of the recipes and we found some were to our liking and some just didn’t make the cut.
Our favorite recipe was Lamb Meatballs with Basmati Rice that was to represent the wise men. We have had that every year since we first tried the recipe. Another tradition is having pasta on Christmas Eve. Our recipe for the pasta has changed over the years, but we still have pasta.
Some of our other traditions include driving around town on our way to Christmas Eve service to see the lights. Our favorite house is, of course, on Wimberly Avenue which also includes the blow up lawn figures. We always have Christmas music playing while we open gifts on Christmas morning and the stockings are always opened last.
So as you enjoy your holiday traditions and rituals this season, I want to thank you for the friendships and business relations that have developed over the years. My wish is that you have a Merry Christmas and a joyous and prosperous New Year.
From my family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’s
