Red Curtains Were Down! Caught in Intermission!

By
Real Estate Agent

Have you ever experienced posting your blog entry or perhaps submitting a comment when suddenly red curtains rolled down? Well, I’m talking of the Intermission that ActiveRain imposes whenever fixes to bugs and updates of any sort are implemented on the platform. During these times, members cannot perform their usual tasks nor can anyone view the blogs inside the platform.

This was the very same instance that happened to me 19th of December on the AR platform. I was about to drop a comment for Suesan’s blog about writing bad posts. I knew that I had written the comment, but when I clicked the Submit button, the image below was returned on my browser. I do not know whether it was successfully posted or not!

I know that updates or intermissions (as ActiveRain wants to call it) are good to better the performance of the system to help real estate agents and other professionals do more with the platform. However, it’s a little bit embarrassing especially when you are in a hurry! This may be because of several important and not-so-important things lined up on your day’s schedule ranging from business to personal activities and anything in between and thingamajigs.

What I have learned from this instance was to always have Mr. Microsoft Word or any other word processor open. Type your comments or blog posts there first and save it. From there, copy it to the platform until you’ve successfully posted blogs or comments you’ve made. This will save you from the frustration of being caught up by the red curtains!

Updates:

The red curtains were finally raised and the show started once more! ActiveRainers are happy that they can continue reading informative posts, doing their own blogs, submitting comments, and more.

I am finally able to post what I had done several hours ago. I am not aware what time the red curtains were raised because I had to attend to other things while this was happening.

To my surprise, the comment I did to Suesan’s blog was there!

I always write in Word or something then cut and paste mostly becuase I can do more in that platform. It's nice to know though that I will never be caught with my pants down....or behind the red curtian.

Bruno, great way to explain the red curtain on the RAIN, this did happen to me while constructing a blog and I hadn't saved it in draft, but luckily I do usually have my drafts saved in word. You gave me a good chuckle with this blog, thanks... Good Stuff

Thanks for the advice Bruno, I usually write out my blogs in Google Docs, however I has lost a few comments, so your advice will help.

Joel - Yes, Word is friendly. You can also add hyperlinks in there and when you paste it in AR, the hyperlinks are still there. But one caution though, you should always click the Save icon or perhaps CTRL+S on your keyboard to save once in a while. You might not be caught behind the curtains but failures such as computer problems and power interruptions can happen.

Bob - Aside from using the draft mode in Ar, it really helps to draft in Word. thanks for liking the post.

Kathy - I did tried GoogleDocs. It is also nice to work with as what you are doing is automatically saved. However, I do not recommend it for more than two users sharing the same document and working on it all at the same time. It may really become devastating and time-wasting as changes may become difficult to track even if you resort to UNDO.
