Gorgeous Angel’s Trumpet (Brugmansia) is a Poisonous Flower

Are you looking for an exotic, impressive, specimen plant for your garden? The colorful and gorgeous angel’s trumpet (brugmansia) is one of the choices; however it is a poisonous flower.

Angel’s trumpet likes warm days and cool nights, with tropical or subtropical temperatures. It has dark leaves with beautiful trumpet shaped flowers hanging on the plant. The flowers will give off a fragrance in the evening.

It has a variety of colors like cream, orange, pink, purple, white and yellow. The flowers have either single or double petals.

Moist acidic soil is preferred by the Angel’s trumpet which helps the plant to grow easily. With proper care it will bloom year round, and once it is established, it will be drought tolerant.

Angel’s trumpet flowers attract hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. You may plant in the pot and bring into the house during the winter.

Be aware that the gorgeous angel’s trumpet (brugmansia) is a poisonous flower to humans and animals if eaten.

Honesty, Integrity, Results, Experienced. HIRE Me!

We have two Angel's Trumpet flowers rooting in our kitchen window right now.  Debbie brought back cuttings in late October from our trip to Alabama.  These are yellow they have well established roots and will be ready for the ground as soon as early spring hits the high desert area.  Not sure if they'll grow here but we're going to give it our best shot.

Hi John, good to see you again. If you have concern, just let it stay in the pot until you cut another branch and root it.

Kwee, sad to see such a beautiful flower would be poisonous!    Not sure if I could have it indoors for fear for my kitties!

Hi Kwee,

I was planning to put one of these plants up in my yard so I am so glad I read your post as I did not know they were poisonous. My 3 little darlings cannot be around it as one of them likes to smell everything and sometimes chews even though she is 2 yrs old now. Thanks for sharing such important info.
