It is that time of year, decorations, ornamentation, tinsel and such. Do people usually put Christmas tree tinsel in the attic?
Certainly festive, tinsel is great, but not perhaps at the dryer vent in an attic.
Ornamentation is always popular at holiday time, no matter the holiday, so the argument could be made that this location is ready for whatever the season!
But it is never good to see lint build up in the attic near the dryer discharge tubing.
It is important to check the dryer vent regularly, clean it as often as necessary (which could be once a year) and make sure that where it exits the house there is no similar build up there either.
This dryer vent has been taped and taped and taped with duct tape. Not a long-term, if even useful, solution.
Also, it goes vertical, is held to the sheathing by an eye bolt (!), it then turns down to snake around the attic and around a sky light to finally exit many feet away out the side, just under the roof.
And we have tinsel!
My recommendation: dryer vents are very important and can be dangerous if not installed in a way that is conducive to proper exhaust, creates no leaks, and they should discharge at a point easy to see and clean.
