Gaithersburg Winter Lights Festival
Create sparkling holiday memories and take a break from holiday shopping by spending quality time with your family when you visit the Gaithersburg Winter Lights Festival. This holiday must-do makes a great gift or stocking stuffer for family, friends or even for yourself. Gift certificates are just $12, a $3 savings if you plan on visiting on the weekend. The wondrous display of lights at Seneca Creek State Park is open nightly through December 31, Sunday through Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. The festival will be closed on December 25.
The 3.5 mile drive through the enchanted setting of Seneca Creek State Park takes you past more than 360 illuminated vignettes and 65 animated displays that light up the night. This year’s festival features newly added and redesigned light displays, refreshing the experience for returning visitors. Themed areas include Winter Woods, Teddy Bear Land, Victorian Village, the North Pole, and much more.
Winter Lights really comes alive when you experience the festival through special holographic viewing glasses, available for just $2 per pair. Please note that the glasses are suitable for passengers only, not the driver.
Seneca Creek State Park is located at 11950 Clopper Road, just a few miles west of the intersection with I-270. Cash-only admission at the gate is $12 per car Monday through Thursday and $15 per car Friday through Sunday. Save $3 on weekend admission by purchasing a gift certificate in advance at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 S. In the spirit of the holidays, a portion of the proceeds from the 2012 festival will benefit local charities, including Friends of Seneca Creek State Park, Hospice Caring, Inc., Immanuel’s Church – People-4-People, Mercy Health Clinic, NAMI Montgomery County, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County, Inc., TLC – The Treatment and Learning Centers, and Women Who Care Ministries, Inc.
