Christmas is one day frozen in time

Christmas is one day frozen in time by Richard WeisserAs tracks that lag behind each stride.
The days now passed stretch far and wide,
The calendar betrays the man
On Christmas Day, a child again!
       (R Weisser 2012)

Christmas is a special time to me. It is the one day of the year in which the passage of time has no effect on the spirit of the celebration.

Christmas is NOT a one day event. It is an assemblage of all of the Christmases observed since the onset of reason. It is the one day of the year that it is impossible to separate from the past.

The older we get, the more we look back. Sometimes our reflections are bittersweet, but that does not diminish the satisfaction of reminiscing.

Christmas is one day frozen in time.

And this year will add to the cumulative collection of memories!

Richard, I think of Christmas as a period of time and the many Christmases past have their own special memories and meanings. Merry Christmas.

Good morning Richard,

You are exactly right.  I use to think of it as just the season, but it is a compilation of seasons and memories.

So true.  Christmas is like a great big banana split with a little more whipped cream and stuff added every year! Can't get away from food this time of the year!

Hi Richard - Definitely frozen in time.. We all seem to remember those get togethers , cherishing them  hopefully and sometimes (hating them) but all memories nevertheless! Hoping yours are great.

Well said my friend! This Christmas too will be added to life's amazing kalideoscope of memories. It reminds us that time isn't necessarily a linear concept. What's in our hearts has the ability to stop time, if only for one day each year. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Enjoy the holidays and much prosperity and happiness in 2013!

What a beautiful post and so very true.  This season is definitely a time for reminiscing to Christmases past.  And on those years that are harder to get through due to loss, financial stress or whatever, those past Christmases are like a warm blanket to cuddle you through the rougher ones.
