Simple 101:  Don't forget to send a Thank You card to the agent on the other side

Our industry can make us crazy at times.

Short sales, foreclosures, distressed properties, lending laws, government programs, real estate laws, appraisals, inspections, emotional clients, etc.  So many times those urgent issues arise that cause us to lose focus on the bigger picture.

Try not to let it make you detract from the simplest little things that provide notoriety for you in your industry.

Don't forget to send a Thank You note to the agent on the other side at closing.

Referrals stem from who people remember.  Give them a reason to remember you.  Chances are if you've done one successful deal with them, you work in the same area and they may be either the listing agent on the next offer you write, or the buyer's agent on one of your next listings.

Having a track record of that agent successfull closing on the other side and showing a small amount of courtesy will make you feel a lot more confident the next time you have to decide who you and your client should be in contract with.

Very good reminder.  After all this is a relationship business and we don't need any un-needed strains!

In my tiny market it is imperative to keep good relations with your fellow agents. You end up working deals with the same agents over and over.

Ralph, this is such a small detail, but the other agent REMEMBERS!    I usually send an email after the transaction is over, but should start the personalized cards!

I think that sending a handwritten note is so important.  In an email world a card or note delivered by snail mail is so nice.

Ralph - Liz and Joan make excellent points, as do you.  Remembering to acknowledge the efforts of others, agents, loan officers  or escrow professionals ... put "credits" in your relationship bank!  Thanks for reminding us ... of the basics ... not just in business, but in life!

We actually use Survey Monkey at our office so that we can try and get concrete feedback on our agents and the transaction.
