Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead at Overland Park, Kansas was established n 1976 as a living history project of Overland Park, Kansas.  In 1985, the Farmstead received its present name and was dedicated in memory of Deanna Rose, an Overland Park police office who died in the line of duty.

The eight-acre Farmstead is home to many types of farm animals, with the babies being a special attraction in the spring.  The baby animals are available to interact with the visitors, especially children., but there are slides in the silo too and hayrides, picnic tours and other good times.

The intent of the Farmstead/Park is to replicate a turn of the century farm with suitable buildings which were used to work with the conditions of the time.  With no air conditioning, cooking was moved to the summer kitchen, for example. A root cellar does the duties of a refrigerator; a mill to grind flour. Activities of busy people of the era are going to be demonstrated for visitors today, spinning, weaving, jarring (canning). A dairy barn is part of the overall plan described at this site> http://opprf.org/farmcost.htm:

The Farmstead is maintained by donations and support from the City of Overland Park and other entities.  Donations can be made through Deanna's Sunflower Club,  or as Friends of the Farmstead   The Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead is a seasonal activity in Overland Park, Kansas, open from April 1 through October 31.
