Another small town with lots of charm!   I graduated from Wake Forest-Rolesville High School (although I will not mention the year) and wanted to wiite a few things about the Town of Wake Forest.  Wake Forest grew up around the site of Wake Forest College. Wake Forest got it's start in the 1820's when a resident sold his 600-acre plantation to North Carolina Baptists to begin a school that would educate practicing ministers of the church, as well as boys and young men.

At first, the campus consisted of a plantation house (which still stands), and two dozen outbuildings. Later, impressive brick buildings and beautiful landscape emerged. Businesses began to grow on campus to support the needs of students and staff.

The town finally developed its own identity and was fully incorporated. After that, many businesses were being set up to serve customers beyond the college community including a cotton mill and wood planing mills. This growth resulted in the building of many residential neighborhoods, including Faculty Drive(North Main Street) and the Royal Cotton Mill Village, both of which are designated historic districts.

In 1956 the college moved to a new campus in Winston-Salem. The town's economy lost of millions of dollars, and many people especially college support staff, lost their jobs.  It's quite different now with so many new shops and new upscale neighborhoods to choose from.  Whether you want to move closer to Falls Lake or stay near Raleigh and town, Wake Forest has a lot to offer. The campus of Wake Forest College is now home to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, (which is an absolutely beautiful campus) one of the town's largest employers. Today, Wake Forest continues to grow and prosper, with a community focused on maintaing its small-town charm.  For more information about Wake Forest visit http://www.wakeforestnc.gov/Or give us a call!  I absolutely love this town and have watched it grow to be a location that is very popular to a large variety of people.  It's very close to Raliegh and is a major part of the Triangle Area.
