Monday Morning Coffee – Turning the page

The last day of 2012 is here.

Many (most) people will talk of “New Year Resolutions” tonight . . .

and most of those resolution will fizzle within a few weeks.

The gyms and Diet programs will rejoice with the sudden influx of new members.

Will a resolution change your life?

What radical difference do you want for 2013 that wasn’t there in 2012?

When you “Turn the page,” will you throw the baby out with the bathwater, or will you build on what you started in 2012 and pledge to do more of that – BETTER?

I’ve had a “Love/Hate” relationship with 2012 as it began slow and boring and even a tad scary . . . we all found ourselves hoping for a vastly different year than the 4 prior . . . and wondering how we could rise above it all.

I figure, the folks still standing at the beginning of 2012 were already winners . . . folks who had endured the “Hero’s Journey” and were TIRED.

When would all of the hard work bear fruit?

Little did many of us know, but something would happen mid-year that has since snowballed into a very exhilarating  momentum carrying us into 2013.

The economy started MOVING in spite of all of the odds against it . . .

Here in Middle Tennessee, the housing inventory began to dry up – More jobs were created every day as we learned of new companies moving into the area . . . and now . . . the real excitement of seeing new construction popping up all over town – Houses and Commercial Buildings, Hotels, Retail Centers . . . You name it . . .

“they” came and continue to come, and we are here to serve them.

There’s no question in my mind. 2012 has been a foundational year for something truly great.

2013 will be the year of building the structure, and we’ve learned some humility and the value of deliberate and consistence persistence.

We learned our lesson from the “Bubble Days” that we cannot build a flimsy structure and expect long term stability and growth.

We’ve learned that size doesn’t necessarily guarantee success . . . sometimes the smallest high performance players can run circles around the big dogs.

We’ve learned that Niche Specialization has greater value than “Big Box Store” homogenization.

and I think we all also learned a lot about how we each feel about our country . . . and perhaps have a relatively newfound love and respect for this great Nation . . . something we took for granted during those times of prosperity.

I see and hear more PASSION now than before.

and I know that with more passion comes more results.

2013 is the year of the Invitation for me as I invite more and more people to ENGAGE and find their own personal Rhythm.

and to show up

and to be present

and to follow Heart and Meaning

and to tell the truth

and to let things go when they’re not serving the purpose.

Dream BIG!

and BREATHE!

Happy New Year!
