Movie Theater shooting due to a romantic break-up
On December 16, 2012, there was another movie theater shooting in San Antonio, TX. Unlike the other recent movie theater shooting and the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, this event was not random. There were actual targets due to a romantic break-up gone bad. On this Sunday night, it all started at the China Garden Resturant on Southwest Military just off I-35. According to officials, the ex-girlfriend and the gunman worked together at the resturant. The gunman, Jesus Manuel Garcia, was 19-years old. Recently, his girlfriend broke off the relationship. Garcia was so upset about the break up, and decided to go to the resturant to shoot his ex-girlfriend and co-workers. During the shooting, employees ran for their lives. One of the employees ran into a nearby theater known as the Santikos Mayan Palace 14 Theater. Luckily, there was a Sheriff off duty working as security due to the recent theatre massacre in Colorado. The Sheriff noticed the gunman targeting one of his victims who was running into the theatre's restroom. The Sheriff took action, and shot the gunman before he could injury anyone else when he came out of the restroom. Investigators are still unclear why the shooter decided to go after the coworkers too. They think there might have been a love triangle with one of the other employees at the resturant, but aren't sure. Only 2 people were injuried, but they are both on their way to recovery.
We do not understand why things like this happen just like the other shootings that have happened this year. Since these shootings, there have been a huge debate on gun control in the United States. Some say citizens shouldn't be able to have weapons while others claim it's the only way for self-defense. Also, others state: The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Please continue to pray for the victims and their families for all the shootings this year. Also, pray for the people that have made these events happen. They need to find the Lord and the only way they can do that is for us to pray for them.
