I am amazed to think that we are at the end of 2012. Seems like the year flew by. 2012 was a very difficult year for me and my family personally and at times a very challenging year professionally.
Despite all the challenges I am honored to know that I was able to make contributions to several wonderful organizations because of the real estate transactions I was a part of.
Each of the organizations listed below received at least 1 $50 donation in 2012. However, many of the organizations received several donations throughout the year.
Angie Houtz Memorial Fund – This one is near and dear to my heart. I am a founding member of this organization that honors my best friend who was killed in the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon by offering scholarships to students attending Maryland public universities.
Avon Walk for Breast Cancer – raising money to find a cure for Breast Cancer.
Food for the Poor – providing needed food and supplies to the poor across the world.
Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation – raising money to build schools in Jamaica.
Jump Rope for Heart – My kids participate every year in fundraising for the American Heart Association.
Komen for the Cure – raising money for breast cancer research and early detection.
March of Dimes – working to eliminate birth defects.
MS Society – I was diagnosed with MS in 2006 and I walk in the MS Walk every year.
Operation Second Chance – helping wounded veterans transition back to society
Ovarian.org – raising money for Ovarian cancer needs
RJ Smiles - An organization started by one of my former clients to honor her son’s memory. Their aim is to spread smiles across the local area.
Unicef – protecting vulnerable children around the world.
I am so glad that in 2010 I began making $150 donation with every closing. I look forward to 2013 and hope that it brings me many more opportunities to make donations to worthy charities.
